In the Eye of the Storm

Life has a way of bringing storms we never expected.

Sometimes the storm comes through an unexpected phone call, a difficult season, financial struggles, broken relationships, sickness, loss, or simply the weight of everything happening at once. We may find ourselves asking, “Lord, how am I going to get through this?”

The disciples knew what it was like to be in a storm. They were in the boat, doing what Jesus had instructed them to do, yet the winds began to rage and the waves began to rise.

Being in God's will doesn't mean we will never experience storms.

But it does mean we never have to face them alone.

Sometimes we pray for God to calm the storm around us, but instead, He gives us peace within it.

Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.” — John 14:27

God's peace isn't dependent on everything going perfectly. It comes from knowing that even when we don't understand what is happening, God is still in control.

The storm may be loud, but God's presence can be louder.

The circumstances around us may be changing, but God does not change.

We may not know when the storm will end, but we can know who is with us in the middle of it.

Psalm 46:10 reminds us, “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Sometimes being still doesn't mean the storm has stopped. It means we've stopped trying to control what only God can handle.

So, if you're standing in the middle of a storm today, take a moment to breathe. Pray. Surrender what you cannot control and trust God with what you cannot see.

The battle may be around you, but it doesn't have to be within you.

You may be surrounded by chaos, but you can still have peace.

You may be facing uncertainty, but you can still have faith.

And even when you cannot see the way forward, remember this:

Jesus is still in the boat.

The storm may be around me, but God's peace can be within me.
